About the NGO
Manhalli has a NGO run by Holy Cross since 1996. This organization work to strengthen the dignity and expand the rights of the tribals, women, minorities and other marginalized communities, by motivating them to become informed citizens, using access to government entitlements as a tool.
Holy Cross has developed 46 self help groups in which they organize themselves to deal with the issues regarding schools, roads, water, sanitation by submitting the memorandum to the concerned authorities. Due to corruption and pressure from political parties do not put in the necessary efforts to do the needful for the marginalized groups.
Deficiency of washrooms for girls and lack of hygienic products are one of the main reasons for the decrease in girls enrollment in schools. Schools in Manhalli are in desperate need of setting up functioning washrooms for 15 local schools, provide hygienic products for girls along with education facilities, clean drinking water.
The funds accumulated will be divided between 15 schools aiding in providing sanitary products, functioning washrooms and tutors.
